Hello 👋🏼
I'm Breanna

I am an occupational therapist (OT) transitioning from a career in healthcare and seeking full-time role in the field of UX Design. I apply my skills of therapeutic activity analysis to create functional and accessible applications for people of all backgrounds and abilities. I worked in outpatient hand therapy for five years in both Hawai'i and Colorado. Prior to that, I completed internships in an inpatient rehabilitation clinic working with traumatic brain injury, stroke, and spinal cord injuries as well as at the VA in Hawai'i, working in both an inpatient and outpatient capacity. I found my passion in hand therapy at the VA.

Having worked in direct patient care for 5 years, I am experienced in understanding and building rapport with many different types of personalities. I routinely modified teaching styles and presentation of complex topics depending on the patient's learning style, cognitive abilities, and biases.

I found myself unhappy with the prospects for upward mobility within the allied health realm and decided to scale back my work as an OT and go back to school for software development. I found my niche within UX Design. It allows me to combine my analytical and observational skills in human behavior with my love for the visual arts.

Outside of the professional world, I am dog mama to Kali, a very lazy German Shepherd. She is a fan of chasing squirrels and eating cabbage. In my spare time, I love to paint. I primarily work in acrylics and gouache, however have been known to dabble in digital art and ink. I am inspired by nature, especially the unmatched beauty of the beaches in my home state of Hawai'i.
